Simon has been involved with trucks and buses (Volvo, Fuso and Isuzu) for over 20 years. He was the General Manager of the family Volvo business in South Wales which expanded from 2 sites to 6; before becoming the Regional Director of Volvo Truck and Bus for the Wales and West Region. Simon joins us from Isuzu where he is General Manager UK Retail Sales.

This appointment is part of the succession planning for WT&V with John Landon retiring in 2013. John’s contribution to the company has been, and continues to be, of great value to the Watts Group and I would like to take this opportunity of expressing my gratitude to John for his hard work and dedication through some difficult times.

I am confident that Simon’s experience will help the Group to continue to improve sales and service in South Wales and remain the region’s premier truck and van dealer.

Simon lives in South Wales and his knowledge of the local market and connection to the area will benefit both customers and the business.

Simon is married with three children (ages 7, 10 and 14) and lives in Barry, South Wales. He was a successful rugby player with 67 games for Pontypridd scoring 16 tries either as flanker or number 8. He also captained Oxford in the 1986 Varsity game and Wales Students in 1987.

John Landon has spent his entire working life in the commercial vehicle industry in South and West Wales and after working for Howells Garages he started his own dealership in Swansea with franchises for Leyland DAF trucks and LDV vans. In 2008 Watts of Lydney bought Swansea Truck Centre Limited from John and his co-shareholders. Since then John has stayed with Watts Truck & Van taking responsibility for all three Welsh depots after Ray Nessbert retired in 2010.
